Patient Access Specialist

Job Description:
Patient Access Specialist OfficeTeam seeks a Patient Access Specialist III to work for our Registration Department.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, but are not limited to: -Register all outpatients and inpatients either in person or by phone interview, collect accurate patient demographic, current insurance information, and obtaining pre certification or authorization for all scheduled services.
Accurately record and document prior authorized or precertification numbers for payment and follow up.
-Promote and maintain excellent communication with all ordering physician offices, hospital departments and insurance agencies for obtaining orders and prior authorization and pre certification of scheduled patient services.
-Enter all patient information into computer system accurately and quickly.
-Obtain all necessary signatures and/or legal consent for treatment and/or admission.
Give Medicare, Observation, Medicare Important Message, Privacy notices and Patient Right information letters when appropriate.
-Contact insurance carriers and/or patient Primary Care Physician as required by insurance contract and/or policy to gain approval for admission, via Internet access, phone and/or written document.
-Perform all follow up with Auto related and Workers compensation claims.
Accurately record all data in the ADT system and maintains communication with Patient Accounting and any other affected department.
-Determine co-pay and payment amounts for self-pay patients.
Collect co-pays and self-pay amounts, make receipt and records and reports all collections.
-Collect payment for patient pay accounts when Financial Counselor is unavailable.
Accurately record and reports all collections.
-Determine and discuss Medicaid application and Charity Application information with all self-pay patients QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE, but may not be limited to: -High school diploma or GED -Three (3) years of experience as a Patient Access Specialist -Experience in pre-registration and prior authorization -Certificate of Medical Terminology -CHAA Certification and maintenance of certification -Continuing healthcare education Allegan General Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
